Maine Black Bears Sled Hockey Program

The New England Bruins Sled Hockey Program leads the development of sled hockey throughout New England. The program is affiliated with several adult and junior teams, including teams in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Vermont. The program hosts the New England Invitational Sled Hockey Tournament, conducts several Outreach Clinics throughout the year, oversees the New England Bruins adult traveling team, and participates in several awareness raising events each season. The program operates as a non-profit affiliate of the New England Wheelchair Athletic Association.

The New England Bruins Sled Hockey Team is comprised of the best sled hockey players in New England with and without disabilities in an inclusive setting. We have male and female players aged 19 to 67 with a wide range of educational and professional backgrounds. We have disabled veterans and students alike. Some of our players have had their disabilities for a very long time, while other’s disabilities are new to them. Two members of our team are Paralympic Gold & Silver Medalists and members of the Mass. Hockey Hall of Fame. Other members of the team are relatively new to sled hockey. All New England Bruins Players also skate for their local club team to support program development and player outreach activities. The Bruins are coached by former Boston Bruins great, Rick Middleton and former UNH Wildcat, Tom Moulton.

The New England Bruins goals are to be competitive nationally and to lead the development of excellence in sled hockey throughout New England. Each year our Tournament Schedule includes four to six tournaments in cities across the United States. The Team also puts on exhibitions at Boston Bruins Alumni games to increase the popularity of sled hockey.
